The Age of Worms
Black dragon keeping company with the Twisted Branch tribe of lizardfolk. Black dragons have a breath weapon that is an 80’ line of acid, 10’ wide. They are aquatic and can breathe underwater, measuring 25’ from tail to head. They tend to be chaotic evil, so Illthain’s activities with the lizardfolk seemed to be a bit out of character – which of course, they were, since she was using the tribe to store her egg full of Kyuss worms. Black dragons can fly, speak, and cast spells. Illthain is at least a mature adult, 200 – 300 years old, casting spells akin to a 5th level sorcerer. SR 21, DR 10/magic, AC near 30, frightful presence, at least a 100’ breath weapon, and darkness.
However, the party has reason to believe that Illthain is not exactly what they have heard she is, based on a scrying performed on the 2nd of Sunsebb, CY 595. The vision revealed that instead of two front-facing and two rear-facing horns usually found on a black dragon, Illthain appears to have a crown of rear-facing horns. Instead of a long, aqualine body she has a stouter build, covered with bone-shard spikes. She also does not have the webbed feet of a naturally aquatic black dragon, but rather earth-rending talons. Scar-Eater suspects that Illthain is actually a copper dragon, and that she has used her skill with alchemy to alter herself somehow. Black and copper dragons share the same breath weapon (a line of acid), but copper dragons can also breathe a slowing gas and essentially climb stone surfaces as if under a spider climb effect. They can also burrow.
